Description

Margaret Thatcher, the stalwart and the most visionary Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has made some powerful statements at the House of Commons. On 30 October 1990, her famous address at the House of Commons on the European council meeting was no different. The then Italian Prime Minister, Giulio Andreotti had decided that the Council would refuse to discuss the GATT. They would instead go for the final stage in European Economic and Monetary Union. This was indeed an attempt made by the Italian Prime Minister to get Margaret Thatcher to either agree or disagree to the proposal forcing her to say "No". This statement brought about her downfall as the members of her party did not share her views
